when I was in high school, we played against Wall, and they had an all-world football player named Clayton Weishuhn, who went on to be an all-American at Angelo State and played a few years in the NFL with the Patriots. I would assume that this is his son, or a nephew. Can anyone confirm?

Does anyone have a pic of this guy?

Clayton Weishuhn...now there's a blast from the past. I remember reading about him in Texas Football when I was a kid.

Yes, it is his nephew I can confirm.

His brother Doyle was also a heck of a football player

I knew I was right, but my brother just talked to Clayton Weishuhn this morning at the Wall Co-op (he is a farmer just like the rest of his family now) and he said that this is brother's kid. So consider this confirmed!

So would this be Carl's kid? Just wondering!

just a nitpicky correction, but Wall HS is not "San Angelo Wall"...as those of us from the area know, it's a tiny spot in the road just south of San Angelo on the Eden/Brady highway (and not all that far from Christoval, the hometown of a pretty fair football player for the Ags back in the day).

The Weishuhn clan has had quite a few athletes...I seem to recall that Clayton was not the only one who played for Angelo State, but I can't for the life of me recall his brother's name...Daryl seems to be all I can think of, but that's probably not it.
At any rate, it's good to see a small town guy land a Div. 1 scholarship.

Not to nitpick your nitpicking, but it is East of San Angelo. Christoval is South.

Doyle, see above. Doyle is the father of the new recuit. About the only other players from that area that have been to big time athletics have been Pierce Holt (played at Angelo State and was originally from Rosenberg but he still lives in the area in Christoval), and Shea Morenz (who flopped as the t.u. quarterback and later with the minor league Yankees).

You are correct, it is East. Hey, Grego and rbtexan, are you from San Angelo?

Weishuhn’s uncle, Clayton Weishuhn, played linebacker in the National Football League. His older brother Trey is a 6-5 quarterback at Angelo State University. He has a sophomore brother who is 6-4 and an eighth-grade sister who is more than 6 feet tall.

Just to nitpick your nitpicking of my nitpicking...and to correct myself...it's actually southeast of San Angelo, on Hwy 87. Aside from that, my point was that Wall HS is not a San Angelo school, ala San Angelo Central.

I'm from Menard originally, and spent a great deal of time in San Angelo, to answer the other question. My sister lives there, as does my uncle and several cousins. Zentners is still a great steakhouse I hope (although I'll always insist that the Lowake Inn is the best of all time).

rbtexan, I am going to nitpick at your nitpicking at their nitpicking. I AM from San Angelo and it is East.

Closer to east to Southeast anyway. And don't forget Lakeview High School also.

Old School-
Hiya former neighbor...I was originally going from memory, but I double checked myself by looking it up on mapquest. Due east would take you to either Veribest or Eola. It's probably a matter of where you start your bearings from, but looking at a map, from downtown San Angelo, it's definately southeast.

What we can agree on, however, is that Wall is damn small...and that's all....

Yeah, it looks like the map I posted changed! Oh well. Damn small indeed. I lived about five minutes from there and spent a little time in Wall. I digress.

rbtexan,

When did you graduate from Menard?
rbtexan

Z,
I'm an old timer, graduated in '80. Had the priveledge (?) of playing on the JV football squad my sophomore year that was outscored 204-8 for the season. As the coach at the time described me, I wasn't big but I was slow.

rbtexan,

You're not too old, I'm class of '89.

Now that I think of it, I believe that I know who you are...was your sister one of my classmates?
