If we go 2-1 or win the whole tournament, especially if one of the wins is UH, I'll probably shift my expectations up a notch to thinking we should be a true bubble team. (to me meaning we go into the last week of the season with a chance).

I wouldn't shift them a ton because weird things happen in these tournaments to begin with, and none of the teams in this thing except Houston are probably going to be anything special, but if we can beat two or three solid teams, then with the way the rest of our non-con lines up we should be set up pretty well to make the NCAA's if we can find a way to get to .500 in league play.

Once we hit the Maui Waui everything will have a new and clearer perspective

It looks like the preseason polls pretty much nailed it with 10th in SEC. This team has no post up player and that is going to kill then all season long. We don't have somebody to go to for an easy bucket when we are struggling offensively. It should have been addressed in the off-season and it want.

How many of those guys are really out there though and why would they come here?

I think we did about as well in the portal as could be expected. We're going to have to make the guys we've got good enough to compete.

I'm not asking for a Drew Timme, I'm asking for a decent post player. Throw out some random college basketball team and I bet that team has a decent post player. I know nothing about Ohio basketball but I bet they have a decent big man that can score down low.

If we did as good as we could have expected then we should pack it up now and accept this isn't going to work. And this is coming from a big Buz guy. This team is going to struggle again because of its talent level.

It is going to be a problem all year. However I'm not sure we had much to sell last offseason.

If we keep the core of the roster together and go to the portal this season, it'll be an easier sell to a big man because you can show him he is the piece we need to take this team to that NCAA tournament level, not 1 of 8 pieces needed like this past offseason.

But that talent level is, overall, a lot better than last year. But that's what I meant by we're going to have to do it the hard way. If you were a good low post man that could score, you'd be in high demand in the portal so why come here?

You think after the last two seasons we should have expected to do even better in the portal? Radford, Williams and Coleman are legit players and I think as they play more together they'll continue to get better.

But we're going to have to find ways to make the guys we have better enough to win enough games to get even better guys. For me that's just all there is to it. And if we can't do that, then yeah, it's not going to work.

We are playing far better than last year at any time.

That is a start.

22-9 overall

10-8 conference

Gig' Em Ags!!!

Great showing in the Maui tournament.

Need to work on free throws, rebounding and turnovers. Those are my big 3.

You mind me asking why? We seemingly have looked a lot better than some SEC teams to start the season, and we know Buzz's teams are always at their best later in the season…

I think it's fair to question if what we did to Notre Dame will work most of the time against more athletic teams on regular rest. ND's not an overly athletic team, and not a very deep team, playing their third game in three days.

That's where I think we out today, based on a small sample size. Some of it is I think SEC is best conference in the country. I don't see the Butler team we played finishing in top 9 of SEC. I am one of the few thank thinks that Wisconsin team will make the NCAA tournament and I said before this tournament I thought they were better than people were talking about them.

I think the lack of a person who can post up is going to hurt bad
I think we are going to get abused by teams with a good big man because we are going to have to help so much down low.
-Poor rebounding team
-Bad free throw shooting team
Nothing comes easy in our half court offense. When we are desperate to end a scoring drought we don't have that go to guy to get an easy basket. They are all tough baskets
-We make a lot of dumb passes.

The pressure trapping defense is great. We get turnovers that lead to fast break points. We need to avoid our half court offense at all costs. I would like to see us do that a lot more often and use a lot more guys. Think it's our best way to be successful.

The easiest way to sum it up is lack of talent compared to our competition. I had low expectations for Brown, but he's even further behind that I thought. I had reasonably high expectations for Williams and he has just shown it in spurts. I had no idea what to expect from Coleman, but I expected him to post up more and he pretty much never does in our offense. I had big expectations expectations for Q and I'm pretty happy with his play. I had high expectations for Radford and he just has been too passive.

We need guys like Marcus Williams and Tyrece Radford to step up. I think these guys need to be more aggressive. I said before the season we would depend on W, Radford and Williams and I don't think those last two are bringing enough yet. They have to be more aggressive. They have to attack the rim more.

We have this ability to play great for a very limited of time. We have these stretches of poor play. Sure you can overcome them some nights like we did Notre Dame (I said at half we would win that game) but most nights you won't overcome it.

Good thing is they have a lot of time between now and SEC play. Somethings they can't fix because of limitations of talent, but defense, rebounding, passing and FT shooting can be improved and need to be.

About half our SEC schedule is against the likes of Mizzou, Georgia, South Carolina, and the Miss Schools. Maybe we can go like 6-3 vs that bunch and then 3-6 versus the upper half to hit .500.

I am cautiously optimistic at the moment about this team being able to win 9 SEC games though still a lot of non-con to go to get further impressions of this bunch.

11-2 non-con. I'll take it.
Losses are 10-1 TCU and 10-2 Wisconsin.

Some pretty accurate predictions in here hovering between 8-10 and 10-8 in conference around the NIT mark.
