Judging by crowds over the last 6 years, I'd say many beeching about Reed haven't stepped foot inside the place.

Well in their defense, watching Aggie basketball under Kennedy was rather painful.

Coincidentally, it was ~6 yrs ago when AD Eric Hyman chose not to fire a loser with 3 straight 11th place conference finishes (when Buzz Williams was looking to leave Marquette for VT) and told Aggies wanting to make the dance that they need to "manage their expectations".

I guess none of you noticed that the concrete floors in the stands were painted a light beige before the SE Louisiana game. They still need to finish the corner aisles.
Well, that will make all the difference.

After seeing Dickies last weekend, Reed sucks. That place is beautiful.

A brand new place was nicer than a 25 year old place? Weird
Tech's arena was built at the same time as Reed and it is ten times as nice. First class basketball arena.
Texas Tech and Lubbock wanted a new arena to be the showcase event arena for the area and the area had large support for tech basketball. A&M wanted to build Reed because they needed more space for graduation and the Big 12 told them they needed something better than G. Rollie. I'd say Reed crossed that low bar for them. The school needed/wanted Reed more than the athletic department hence why we have an arena designed to be a school event space 1st with the basketball and sports fan experience as an afterthought.

I'm actually reasonably impressed...the upkeep and upgrades on Reed have kept it fresher than I've seen other facilities. Like the venerable and and perhaps a little worn Rudder that looks like it deserves a refurb.

I realize you build what you can build. But Bill Byrne confirmed RC had to recruit at a disadvantage. I'm hoping that Buzz can continue being the key recruiting advantage and that the facilities can keep up with him!

Maravich center isn't any better than Reed and it hasn't held Wade back in recruiting.

I like Reed. Nice upgrades, perfect capacity. It's a great arena for BB.

That picture isn't and the integration between upper and lower seats is a more traditional basketball style than Reed. Reminds me a little more of Carver-Hawkeye.

My issue with the lighting at Reed also has to do with the bluer color of the light. I associate that with cheap grocery stores. It's a personal dislike.

Reed Arena makes for a stale college basketball environment. There is a 15 foot concrete walkway between the student section and the playing surface. It will never happen but a basketball only facility that sits about 8 thousand would be ideal (go check out Fertitta Center at UH). Bringing the fans and students closer to the action would make for a much better atmosphere.

I noticed last night at WBB, but they didn't paint all the rows, the ends where not painted and it looks like upstairs wasn't painted. Guess they ran out of paint.

We took out seats for berms,

I am still trying to understand that move. Older people spend money to go to games. Plopping themselves onto the ground (and then getting up after the game is over) is hard to do.

I assume students love the berms but their monetary stake in the game is very minimal,

I'm an old Ag and have not been to a baseball game since the renovation because my wife and I can't physically handle it.
