I think much of it comes down to the fact that no journalist, blogger or sportswriter is going to want to cover a loser. If you have to cover only one team and that team is underperforming, as a writer you have few avenues available that will make people interested. One is to try and find the silver linings and the positives in an otherwise gloomy situation and the other is to delve into the possible turmoil and drama of the squad as they struggle on the court. I'm not sure how much TexAgs would ever want to dwell in the latter territory, that's more for the Feinsteins of the world who don't have the kind of capital within a program to risk by going down that road. Besides, if Olin were to take on the pot banger role at TexAgs and constantly write what is essentially porn for the AgsNguyen and Excell types, nobody with a brain really would want to read that. There's no mass appeal for that kind of stuff. I'm not sure what the answer is but it can't be real easy for a person in Olin's position when the team is losing.

I mean, I would enjoy TexAgs better if those with the access weren't just (perhaps unintentional) mouth pieces for an athletic department that already has employed mouth pieces. But its a small town college sports blog and I get it. I don't really care that much.


TexAgs is a microcosm of one of the great problems of our time---the ability to go find what you want to find and treating that as the truth and the gospel.

Fortunately, TexAgs is mostly harmless as its staff is not covering anything of real consequence and importance.
