This got skipped over, and maybe it was meant as a joke, but I don't think it's true. RPI is wins first, it's just multiplied by opponents and opponents-opponents.

Regardless, RPI sucks - the only thing it has going for it is that it's old.

No, definitely not true. The RPI is generally the worst predictor of teams to get into the NCAA tournament.
