West Virginia (lost in 1st round and they were 7 spots ahead of us)
Xavier (lost in second round and they were 6 spots ahead of us)
Purdue (lost in 1st round and they were 5 spots ahead of us)
Kentucky (lost in 2nd round and they were 2 spots ahead of us)
Utah (lost in 2nd round and they were 1 spot ahead of us)

Teams behind us that might jump us:
Notre Dame was 26th but made it to Elite 8, but beat an unranked Wisconsin team, whereas we played OU
Syracuse made at least Final 4, but they weren't even receving 1 vote prior to the tourney

Teams that were behind us, made the Sweet 16, but I don't see jumping us
Maryland (2 spots behinds us and lost to Kansas by 16
Iowa St (4 spots behind us and lost by 13 to Virginia)
Duke (5 spots behind us and lost by 14 to Oregon)


The only team I think that could jump us is syracuse, depending on how they do. I don't think Michigan St will fall behind us even though they lost in round 1. Also don't see us passing Miami.

So my prediction is #10

I would be happy with anything the top 15.

We were 14th before the tournament. I feel confident that we will stay in the top 15. 9-13th is most likely, with 11th being the median. But I'm hoping for 10th. It would be only our second top 10 finish in school history! I think prior to this year we have only finished in the top 20 one time. Though I'm not sure about 1980 and any team before that.

We went 10-2 in our last 12 games losing only to Kentucky in OT in the SECT and the Oklahoma Buddies in the Sweet Sixteen. We should finish in the top-12 to 18 range IMO.

The coaches poll always heavily leans toward tournament success, regardless of pre-tournament rankings, so Syracuse will most likely jump into the top 10.

I'd guess somewhere between 10-13

No one really remembers the rankings outside of one. Nobody remembers anything except how you did in the tourney.

Nah, a lot of fans do remember conference championships. Because winning a conference is difficult to do and thus is appreciated.

Kansas fans do appear to be getting tired however of that being all they remember.

At the end of the day the NCAA tourney is great, but the 'best' team isn't necessarily the one that wins the national championship due to the single elimination format. Isn't like the NBA where the best team invariably advances out of each 7-game series. For example, if 'Cuse wins the NCAA tourney this season, yeah that is an amazing 6 game win streak but nobody is going to suggest Syracuse was the best team in the country in 2015-2016 or even one of the best four. They lost 5 out of their last 6 games heading into Selection Sunday and barely got in by a whisker.

If we started the entire bracket again next weekend, we'd probably get wildly different results, like maybe Mich State would make it to the Final Four this time . 'Course, that is what makes the NCAA tourney so great as well.

Nobody remembers who the NCAA Sweet Sixteen participants were outside of the respective schools. Quick...name all the Sweet Sixteen teams from the 2015 NCAA tourney. And no cheating!

I will remember this season, because it was damn fun and we won the SEC regular season champ. I probably won't care about the poll enough to remember it in a few years, but this should be a season all Aggies remember. It was monumental vs. our program history.

My brain doesn't work like that. I remember regional teams and how they did.

I remember LSU lost by one to NC state, bU lost to Georgia southern or whatever, UTx lost in a close one, OU went to sweet 16, Smu lost on an awful goal tend call.

Agree. I guess I am one fan (and maybe others are like me) that what happens in the NCAA tournament not the ONLY thing that matters. I think huge win moments like @Kansas, 'The Shot', winning conference titles, etc. are pretty special and stand right up there as very memorable moments along with anything done in the NCAA.

Now, if we don't even make the NCAA tournament during a particular season, obviously that is a huge negative on that season being recalled with fond memories (if any).
