A day after scoring an NBA record number points in overtime in an NBA game (17 points in the 5 minute OT period), finishing with 40 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds coming off a two week layoff recovering from a knee injury....Curry becomes the first player in the 61 year history of the league MVP award to win the award with a unanimous vote.

Curry joins magic Johnson, Jordan, and Steve Nash as the only guards to win back-to-back MVP awards.

Curry has 4 of the top 10 spots in made 3pts in a season. Nobody has more than 2 spots in the top 20. He is also the only player in NBA history to make over 280 3pts in a season (him 3 times and Klay thompson 1 time are the only two players to have more than 270 made 3 pointers.

Curry is also the only player in NBA history that has attempted more than 680 3 pointers in a season (886 this year). Him (4 times), Mookie Blaylock (2 times) and Antoine Walker (2 times) are the only players to attempt 600 or more 3 pointers in multiple seasons.

With the way things are trending, I expect these lists to be a lot less exclusive in 5 years

While I don't think he'll reach Curry status, Damion Lillard will eventually be putting up similar #s to Klay on made 3 pointers

Easily? He's a great scorer, but he's not the most valuable. Kahwi Leonard is more important to his team - and a more well rounded basketball player
The Spurs are getting dangerously close now to not facing the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals.

And, yes, Tango, Curry EASILY won his second MVP award. Easily. Unanimously in fact.

Curry is marginally better than Reggie Miller and Chauncy Billups, don't mention is name ever again with his Heirness.

This was probably the best post on this thread. Reggie Miller and Chauncy Billups indeed.

The problem with Leonard is I still don't think he can go out and win you a game. he is great but do you really feel like he is going to go out and hit shots down the stretch to win or close out a close game? Maybe some day but not right now.

Give every gm in the league the option of choosing one of them and it's near unanimous for curry.
Bump.

I wasn't sure this was true last year and definitely don't think it's true this year. On offense, Kawhi doesn't have the ability that Curry does, but he's still pretty damn good. Curry is clearly better, but Kawhi is still great. But on defense, the drop off from Leonard to Curry is laughably huge. Curry is a guy that you hide. Kawhi is so good that players are terrified to dribble within 3' of him at this point. Just ask Ben McLemore.

Give me Leonard. He is literally the only guy in the NBA that's capable of effectively defending James, Curry, or Durant, and he's probably top 10% on offense. That's worth more than transcendent offense and below average defense.

Funny how this thread went silent after that finals performance
