No they wouldn't. You don't have a clue what you're talking about, Gap. Dollars to donuts you just looked up info on this kid upon seeing this thread and went all in on defending the staff at all costs.

Adding a guy with a total of one non-mid-major offer would be seen as settling and reaching big time.

Logan, based on our performance last season I would say that we could use a shooter. Some of those labeled as "shooter" haven't produced and you win with production not labels.

That said we were supposed to have a point guard and most teams are looking for a big. Lots of teams can win without an imposing big although it certainly makes it harder.

This kid went to my brothers high school, until he transferred middle of senior year. I for one am glad he didn't commit to us. His decision making was poor, and took a whoooole lot of ill advised shots. He transferred out of Rockwall in the middle of the senior season once the one good kid on the team also transferred (the whole situation was strange because the one good kid was living with his mother in a home that was partially paid for Grandstaff's father while his sister was in a different school district, the UIL probably should have investigated). Anyway, once he gave up on his high school team he went to a private school and rarely played.

Also, Logan, I am not jumping off the cliff. I am still waiting for this staff to sign a stud as we have some great recruiters. So far it's a no go.

BTW, is Grandstaff going to be at Plano West or Rockwall? IIRC, he transferred to PW and then quickly reversed and is headed back to Rockwall?

He plays on Rockwall's summer league team in a league at North Forney

I've seen the kid play several times and I was shocked that he's so highly rated. Maybe he just never had a good game while I was in attendance.

I don't know what our staff did. Maybe several programs backed off and the kid jumped on the best offer that he's had the longest.

That's the danger in targeting an 8th grader. Its impossible to project what he'll be in 5+ years. Even if he turns out to be a great talent you are still dealing with a kid who's been a star for his entire teenage life. So what happens when he has to earn playing time in college? What happens when he's not the most talented player on the floor? What happens when his coach isn't letting him do whatever he wants?

We may have backed off, I have no clue, but it does seem like his recruiting had generally intensified as he had grown a few more inches.

Who knows? I don't.

I will say Okie Light has a pretty solid reputation and presence in north Texas. They're a force up there, and I wouldn't be shocked if they landed this guy even if everyone was still after him hard.

Still a year of suck to get through Method! But then about 10 consecutive 4/5 star players and eventually a Sweet Sixteen season coming so hang in there!

let's see...jones will transfer, Fitzgerald will transfer, Space will transfer, Smith will transfer, Logan already must have premonition that Reese will transfer cause not even mentioned...oh and that Grandstaff kid to Okie State will decommit/transfer about 10 times.

That Caruso guy though...got a good feeling about him...maybe it is the whole 'former A&M ball boy thing' he has going for him.
