Was he really the lead recruiter for Shaq and Jackson? That's pretty substantial. If he can recruit that well to UNT he could probably do even better here.

I am friends with a former UNT football coach, have seen many of the BB games. I think he has a good reputation for a BB guy. Maybe on to to something.

good offensive coach, just got roger franklin who left osu.
former LSU guy so he knows the area well

he needs to be considered if we don't promote from within.

I am assuming Branch and Green would know him as well so it may be ok in that regards.

Tons of recruiting success in dallas - got tony mitchell from Pinkston who was going to Mizzou...jordan Williams this year - rivals top150 - from Dallas Wilson - Roger Franklin that played for Duncanville and Okie Lite is also transferring there

exactly.

IMO it is promote Spinelli or get Jones. Both I think are great options to keep Branch and Green, and both should be able to recruit at least at the level we have been. Going after pretty much anyone else is a waste of time or will cost us greatly and likely not even be worth it.

I will be surprised if we get any of the other people who's names are floating around. I will be shocked if it was someone from a BCS school.

I think Jones would be a great hire. Dude is a proven winner and recruiter at UNT. Not saying he'd be able to make it in a major conference, but he definitely deserves an opportunity and I'd love for us to give him that.

They lost by one in the Sun Belt final. It's one-bid league just like most other mid-majors so tough luck for them. But his recruiting has been pretty impressive for a mid-major, landing a top 40 class this year.

Jones is a really good guy and pretty humble. Good common sense and recruiter. His NT teams have really improved over the past 6 years. He'd recruit well at A&M and yes was a big reason Shq and Chris JAckson went to LSU in the late 80- 1990.

I would love to have JJ as our next coach, but there is no doubt he underachieved this year. NT was expected to dominate the Sun Belt and fell flat on their face during conference play.
