I haven't heard his name come up one time on ESPN, ESPN Radio, the web...nothing. I wonder if he'll take a step back and sit out a year or join Bill Self as an assistant? I know he'll land a job some where but I just can't believe somebody hasn't snatched him up yet.
Has anybody REALLY heard Gillispies name mentioned for any job? Not just rumors.

I don't expect Gillispie to coach next season. Just a guess, but I think he'll wait for the dust to settle.
I'm sure Parker Executive Search will find something for him by next season.

If we have heard his name mentioned for a job, isn't that technically a rumor?
I can pretty much assure you that anybody on here who hears his name mentioned has pretty much just heard a rumor.
I believe Kentucky snatched him up two years ago.

probably needs a year to get his life back together....needs to figure out what we wants in a contract next time so he can sign it. Has to be some good contract attornies to help him, and he has the $$$ to pay the best.

If I were him (which I'm not), I'd have "my people" reach out to the folks at SMU. Seems like a perfect situation for him.

Tobias: Mentioning a name for a job would mean the University has called him/interviewed/discuss contracts, reliable sources confirmed. Rumors means the whole SMU deal (not that I think that wouldn't be a good fit) or the "Fire Penders and bring him to UH".
SMU, living in DAllas it would make it make me notice the ponies.
Based on his coaching success in one of the big time conferences, I don't see him falling to a small potato league. Even guys with the worst public problems can usually find another big school gig.

Memphis should give the guy a serious look. I think there he could recruit nearly as well as Calipari has before but actually get them to work and buy in. Also he doesn't have to go around pretending to be some celebrity like in Lexington. Maybe i'm wrong, but i could see his style meshing there a lot better than with all the UK prima donnas.

Really?
He has a history of being a drunk, a collosal failure at university public relations, someone who can't be trusted to deal honestly with his superiors, and a borderline teen sexual predator.
This kind of baggage has the weight of lead.
He will end up at a place like Southern Miss, East Carolina, Charlotte, etc....but not Memphis...too much baggage, even for them
Southern Miss took Larry Eustachy, not sure they'd can him for BCG.
I would think that BCG has a great reputation as being able to coach, but now suffers from people understanding that he can't be trusted to be part of the university team. Hiring a man like that is not a solution. It is only a short term fix.
He is now being mentioned in the Memphis search since they have been getting burnt by every program.

I don't know why they just don't hire Pastner away from Calipari. If they're looking at Hamilton after looking at Drew, they're obviously looking at more of a recruiter than an X's and O's guy, and Pastner's a great recruiter.

Bujt then when BCG has success there, he will try and bolt for a"better" job.

Pastner's dad is about as dirty as they come when it comes to recruiting and the AAU. It's no accident Josh is Calipari's recruiting guy ... it goes back to his dad.
Boy, if BCG gets hired at WSU and they come to Reed for the Big 12/Pac10 Challenge, I'm there for that one!
He'd get destroyed. WSU is where we were at the end of Watkins' tour without the talent.

Leonard Hamilton ain't chump change. Was head coach in the NBA, albeit for 1 season. And he's been a HC since '86 including at OK St.

Leonard Hamilton is about as average as you can get. I don't see him taking Memphis anywhere special.

Schools are probably staying away, at the very least, until the contract issues are solved with UK.
He'll spend a year recruiting for himself without being subject to NCAA rules.

Which brings up the question what do you do if you were on Billy's staff? Do you wait out a year with Billy or try to jump in somewhere else? It probably would be tough to get a somewhat comparable staff job given you might bolt the next year when Billy's back.

he's been at fsu 7 years and this year was the first time he's been to the dance since he's gotten there. he's had talent there too: Al Thornton, Von Wafer and now Toney Douglas.

We'll see how that works out. I just can't imagine it unless they see the recruiting pipeline that he built. AAU hiring mill to get recruits. He'll make Drew look like an amateur.
If I were him, I would look @ TCU, SMU or U of H. Recruit Texas, then go dominate a small conference. Crushing a no name conference can work in college basketball.
