Since when did BCG recruit Acie Law?

He give BCG credit for recruiting Acie. Pathetic.

"He found a way to recruit the likes of Acie Law, an NBA talent, to the armpit of Texas."

Wow, BCG must really be talented to recruit Acie Law to A&M while he was coaching at UTEP.

Georgia has been to the tournament 10 times.

They've made it to the second round 2 times. And one of those years was vacated by the NCAA (along with another tournament birth).

You would have figured Georgia was a past b-ball power who has just had a couple of busts at head coach in a row from reading that article.

With all due respect to my fellow aggies from West Texas, College Station is FAR from the armpit of Texas.

My mom was raised in San Angelo, which is also not an "armpit", but in my 61+ years I've made countless trips to San Angelo from all points of the compass.

There ARE some armpits (more than a couple actually) on the way to San Angelo - no matter where you start from.

Been there, done that.

Maybe he meant UGA should hire Melvin Watkins? Now Melvin is a guy that could recruit...

He must have done his research on College Station by looking at Benjamin Knox paintings.

I bet his parents are so proud that their son went to college and became so accomplished that he is now a writer for.... DawgPost.com. Isn't that like the Kentucky basketball of journalism?

Anyone who thinks College Station is the armpit of Texas either hasn't been there or has seen nothing else of Texas.

And no offense, anyone from arkisaw should not be throwing around the term armpit likely.

All arkansas has going for it is natural beauty. That doesn't do much if everything else around sucks.

I thought the same thing but the author is actually a UGA homer, not a pig. Goog search reveals little on "quentin grant" outside of his "work" at scout.com

Edit - here is another choice article by quentin:

"Why Not Bobby Knight?"

I have been to many places in texas. There are places nicer than CS, but nowhere is CS the armpit.

Evidently the writer has not been to College Station nor has he seen the A&M campus and facilities in the last 15 years. IMO, College Station is one of the crown jewels among cities in TX.
If you prefer a megacity, CS is not for you;
if you prefer a town of 50,000 or less, CS is not for you.
If you prefer a relatively new, clean growing city that will soon be 90,000 with a neighboring city of 70,000 this is the place. Numbers do not include students who are not residents; most are not.

Georgia is nothing special either.

But I don't think it is a bad idea for them to go after BCG.

And yes B-CS is growing for the better. I was there recently with some folks who are dyed in the wool Austinites. They were genuinely impressed and had nothing but complementary words for the area. And these folks are basically Austin or bust when it comes to every other city in Texas.

He found a way to recruit the likes of Acie Law, an NBA talent, to the armpit of Texas. Imagine what he could do in a town like Athens and a state like Georgia.

Places like Savannah are very nice. Thing is, Athens is no Savannah.

If you watched Kentucky play the last two years ... you would see teams that had some talent but just flat out played harder than everyone.

Gillespie is never going to be a great people person, and I think Georgia fans could care less.
--Aahhhhh!!!! One my my biggest pet peeves!! So, you're saying Georgia fans could care less? So, in other words, they do care at least a little about him being a people person? Terrific.

That article's a freakin' joke!

What a ******. Yes, Georgia is just chock full of talent, it should be much easier to win at a school with far inferior facilities and absolutely zero basketball history.

Good call, moron.

No kidding, I travel the state significantly. I love CS. The first town that I think of when I think "armpit of Texas" is Port Arthur.
Laredo, Lubbock, Amarillo, Waco and the list goes on.

You might make a case for Waco as an armpit, but the other cities on your short list are bogus. Although these cities certainly have weather issues that might qualify them for other anatomical features of out great state, they're far and away too dry to be considered axillae...

LMAO! I've affectionately referred to B/CS as the armpit of Texas a few times, and I've lived here for 22 years. I guess I like the smell of armpit. It means you're working your *ss off.

Arkansas...where the state motto is "Thank God for Mississippi otherwise we'd be 50th in everything".
