The more I look at their resume, the less I'm impressed.

Against legitimate teams (Top 50 RPI):

Beat Louisville by a bucket in a pseudo home-game where Louisville was without their best player David Padgett.

Lost to North Carolina by 10 in another pseudo home game where UNC's star guard Felton did not play.

Lost to Michigan State by 7 in yet another pseudo home-game.

Lost by 30 to UNLV on the road.
Lost by 15 to UNLV on the road.
Beat UNLV by 30 at home.


We're certainly not world-beaters, but if we show up with a pulse on Thursday we should win by double digits.

AND.... we're toast.

I think you are underestimating the Cougars. They have a good big man that matches up well with our only real strength, personnel-wise, although we do have the upper hand in depth there. Much like us, they depend on streak shooters to generate points. The team with the hot hand will win this one. I think it will either be really close (both hot or both cold) or a blowout (one hot and one cold). Given our bi-polar personality, it's pretty hard to say which personality will show up. Every game is a new experience and a mystery.

I just think when it really comes down to it, all of their impressive performances were early, basically at home against teams with a serious disadvantages (missing their best players).

The only team that you can really get a true reading on them from is UNLV -- who very similarly didn't have much in the way of big wins against marquee opponents either.

They chalked up a lot of wins against bad conference opponents -- so unless the Mountain West was very deceptive and not really one of the worst "major" conferences in the nation this year, then neither of them really played any real decent competition.

Louisville slumped early as well. They dropped from top 10 to unranked at the beginning of the year, but then righted the ship.
