Howdy Ags,

I didn't really lose a lot of sleep when we lost Coach Gillispie because I knew that he left for a top 5 all-time program, but I wondered who would take over and how he would do in his first year.

I think Coach Turgeon is a respectable person. I think we played in a really competitive conference and I think we had some good, not great, but decent talent.

I wish we had a better regular season conference record than 8 - 8. I'm thrilled with our Big XII Tourney record. I'm glad that we made it back to the Big Dance.

Had we not made the NCAA tourney, I think we would all consider it a step back.

Having said these things, are we headed in the right direction with this program? Can he take it to new heights and win a conference championship? Your thoughts. Thanks.

Yes, but don't fire the coach if it isn't in the next couple of years or we'll become a place NOT to coach. Conference championships are hard to come by and not that relevant with the tourney scenario.

If you watched A&M vs. Kansas and thought we went were out-coached..........Sloan sprained ankle and mom dies on Thursday, Jordan a non-factor in that game and the whole tourney. Carter scoring about 6 or 8 in the last 2 games, 2 point game with less than a minute........man, what kind of coach must Self be then?

turgeon either needs to bring the right guys for the motion offense or adjust his offense.

i expect turge grow as a coach in his second year in the big 12 much like a player grows from freshman to sophmore year

In that semi-final against KU every time KU made a run and appeared on the verge of breaking the game open, Turge called a time out and we came back with a little run of our own. Maybe that was just coincidental, but sure sounds like good coaching to me.

Last years special season made us so hungry that we lost some objective reasoning. We have a pretty good team, not great as far as talent goes and we have seen our peak capabilities. Turgeon has done a good job utilizing what he does have. We have no floor general to lead the team on the court, but an awesome supporting cast. Turgeon has a high BB IQ and you can tell the man eat, breathes, and sleeps basketball. People can disagree and thats fine b/c that is the point of discussion, but to base that decision on this season alone is irrational.

That all being said, this team is capable STILL of making a deep run. BTHObyu!

Short of NCAA compliance issues or some legal related issue, Turgeon is here for at LEAST 2 more years and likely 3 irrespective of his performance.

Ummm ... no.

I think both Turgeon and our team have grown throughout the season. To me, we are a very dangerous team right now.

Making the tournament was huge in being able to continue to recruit better players.

Turg's first year has been a rollercoaster ride! Some good, solid moments.......and then....well.....

If the team has in fact turned a corner of sorts and bonded more as a team (I am referencing B Davis's remarks in regards to playing with Sloan's situation in everyone's mind) then I think there are some good signs for our future performances.

I was very worried about this team late in the season. One thing that is very positive about Turgeon turning it around and getting this team to the NCAAs, is that after 3 coaches who ruined their careers here, we have had two coaches take the team to the NCAA tournament.

That has to help our image as a former basketball graveyard some.
