When I start reading a forum thread, I rarely take note of what the OP's username is, but I often find myself reading a reply and thinking, "wait, is that the OP?" So then I have to go back to the top of p. 1 to see who the OP was, then return to the spot where I was at previously. And if I opened the thread by clicking on a "/next" link (unread posts), then going forth and back in the browser history will take me to the last post instead of the one that I started with.
It occurred to me that it would be nice to have some kind of visual indicator next to the OP's username everywhere it appears in a thread. Something like this?
