Forcing mobile site on tablet?

Is there a way to do this? I keep selecting the Mobile site at the bottom, but it keeps resetting to the desktop site whenever I click away from Chrome for a few minutes.

This is on a Nexus 7 tablet.

There is an option to make it stay on mobile in your account settings,
