This has been a bit of a frustration to me lately. There are a few large threads I have saved in my watchlist because they are ones I tend to access or show others. However, I don't care about any responses that are made to these threads, I generally only care about the OP, particularly when it's a year later and it's lighting up my watchlist notifications when there are threads I am actually trying to follow. As such, a "save without watching" button would be fantastic.
Overall, it's a minor annoyance and I'm certain you guys have more pressing user issues to deal with (I work in software development, so I know how that is), but if you get around to it, it would be great.
