It's a fundraiser for a charity….not a drive thru bbq restaurant….

And 10 lbs of brisket (I'm guessing this is about what a fully cooked one weighs) at a decent bbq joint would cost you about (checks notes) $350.

A little bias: I know the cooks and the SmokingSwede and will be hanging out and helping a little while they cook.

This is going to be great. They are starting with some big 18 20lb briskets all USDA Prime which should be about 10-12 lbs after trim and cooking. Its all getting cooked on a massive reverse flow offset using local well-seasoned post oak.

This is a pre-sale and there are only 40 total for sale. On gameday (or morning) you will swing by and pick up your brisket. It will still be wrapped in butcher paper and placed in an insulated bag to keep it warm.

You will also be given a brand new 12 inch slicing knife and one of those thin flexible Teflon cutting boards. There will be a little flyer talking about Different Day Foundation and also a QR Code which will link to a short YouTube video giving you a tutorial on how to slice your brisket.

The pickup is at Jennifer Hathaway's dental office because the health department requires a commercial address and she is just an awesome lady who offered her location and also purchased a separate handwash sink and supplies just for this event.

The Different Day Foundation takes on a huge challenge. They take women who have been prostituted and trafficked and give them housing, therapy, and job skill training for two years. The government doesn't do very much and its just temporary. Different Day helps get these women to a place where they can be self-sufficient and make it on their own.

It just takes a while and is really expensive to take care of and also train someone for two years.

Marcy and the people who work at Different Day have a tough job. They are in the trenches dealing with people who have been victims of some of the wort human being on the planet.

I have no idea how to help those women. But I do know Marcy and Different Day. They know how to help and this event makes it really easy for others to help.

So buy a brisket. Its not really a donation. Its high quality meat cooked old school Central Texas style by the Smoking Swede and a bunch of old men who want each customer to say that its one the best briskets they have ever eaten in their life.

If you cant buy a brisket check out Different Day and see what they do. There are ways to give or even serve: https://differentday.org/

This is a badass idea. Also, the logo for the nonprofit is outstanding!
I'm a Longhorn, and I'll be out in west Texas for T+1, but I may buy/donate a brisket and it can be passed back to someone. Besides, I like to smoke my own and insult myself at how subpar they usually turn out versus my expectations:-)
...take it easy on me, I'm a normal horn

That's awesome.

If you want to donate the brisket DM me or contact one of the people listed on the website where you make the purchase. I am in the Rotary Club and will make sure it goes to a good place -- unless you already have someone, then just list them as the pickup.
