What's everyone running these days? Mine has finally bitten the dust and I'm in the market for a new one.

Learned how to run a fire on an Old Country Pecos for about 3-4 years. Not a bad smoker but hard to control temp swings with the thinner metal. Upgraded to a Workhorse 1975 and that thing runs like an absolute dream.

I'm looking forward to Beef Cheek's and Centex's posts on this thread.

I should've said, my old one is a Masterbuillt 560 gravity fed charcoal/wood. I like it for getting good flavor but it's had quite a few breakdowns and can be a pain to fire up and bring to temp.
Looking for something similar that can do burgers while also be able to do long cooks for pork/brisket

Primo. Similar to the Egg, but bring oval gives you more useable space.

If you've got the space and the funds, get with The Pit Man here on TA. He's also on FB - Profab Custom Fabrication. Going on a year with a reverse flow he built for me last year. Absolutely love it. Still have my Pit Boss for quick needs.

Glad to hear you've had a great experience with the Workhorse 1975. I currently have an Old Country Pecos and am looking to upgrade. Debating between a Workhorse, Franklin, Klose and Fatstack.

Kamado Joe. Recently got the Karbon Steel griddle and it has upped my steak searing and smash burger game. It's also really good at grilled veggies.

I have a 560 too. Bypassed all the switches and had to replace the fan because a grease fire melted the shroud. But it is a cooking machine..... When it ever dies I'll probably buy another one.

Don't know much about the Klose, but am pretty sure Fatstack went out of business. Quick Google search said he took a LOT of people's money and didn't deliver, may have overextended himself but not sure.

I've heard good things about the Franklin, I just wanted more cooking space, the ability to control the dampers on the firebox and stack, plus you can't beat Workhorse's price for 3/8" steel. Once that metal gets warmed up, it just cruises. Never thought I'd be able to step away from a stick burner for as long as I'm able to with my 1975.

I cut my teeth on the Old Country Pecos, as well. One minor mod: I did extend the smokestack about a foot. Then I got the Millscale 94 for smoking meats and various grills for quicker cooks, including a Mill Scale inspired fire table that the Pit Man built me.

18" WSM with BBQ Guru for longer cooks. There's plenty of nicer smokers out there but I don't think there's a better value to be had when it comes to smokers.

Unless you're cooking for a crowd, they are excellent cookers.

I like the axle/tire set you have. Mine is about 600lbs since its 3/8" thick. Steel casters. Can't get off of concrete pavement.

Yep. We do one for the Arkansas game each year. In hindsight, I wouldn't get the warmer stack. It makes that end really heavy, hence the cinder blocks.

Currently a Kamado Joe that I'm very happy with since I switched out the original plate with holes in it at the bottom with the charcoal basket. Previously an Old Smokey and an offset from Academy that my son now owns.

Also a Weber gas grill.

Another Pecos guy here for about the last 10 years. Does just fine with my needs. Haven't gotten to smoke as much the last 3 or 4, but that all will change with a move and transition to WFH.

Having our first housewarming family cookout next weekend. Spares and chicken will be on the menu.

Lonestar Grillz Pellet Smoker, 20" x 42". Ordered first part of April and picked it up last week. Have used a BGE for the past 12 years, but was running out of space on it and wasn't the greatest for just a smoker. This is my first pellet smoker and I'm loving it so far. It's built like a tank and puts out way more smoke than a Traeger or Yoder.
