So you "read" their food was bad…..and now wondering how they are having this success? They opened their first restaurant in 1982 and expanded like crazy.

I have eaten at Chuys in Atlanta, GA with my BIL.

Pretty sure he's poking fun at the other Chuy's thread.

I was eating at Chuy's #2 in the early to mid 90s.

When in the decade? I definitely remember eating there as the 80s closed.

I enjoy a couple of locations of Chuys. Barton Springs and 183 at Duval. Like both of them. Other locations are sterile.

Chuy's #2 on N Lamar has always been my favorite of them all. Their food also seems to be slightly better than the others.

I've been to Chuy's #1 on Barton Springs, Round Rock, College Station and a couple of others. I love the atmosphere and vibe of #2. I wish they still had all their vintage lava lamps, I loved that.

We used to hang out in the pit at Chuy's #1 after work. Chuy's sold out to PE a long time ago and then went public. Doubt this sale to Darden changes much. Covid really did a number on them.

Forgot about the N. Lamar location. Used to hit that location and Ace Mart in the same trip.

Their menu was greatly reduced after Covid.

As a native Austinite I can honestly say it's never been my favorite. I won't turn it down if it's offered at a catered business lunch but there's other Mexican/Tex-Mex that I'm going to before I give them my hard earned dollars. I'd take Matt's, Polvos, even Lupe Tortilla over Chuy's. With this recent move I consider them no different than a Tex-Mex Chili's at this point.

Back patio at Matts in the not so hot weather is pretty good. Lupe is OK.

I heard Covid killed the nacho bar…..

I talked to someone today about it. Covid really killed their menu. No more chile relleno. No more blue corn stacked enchiladas. The corporate office can move to Florida or be laid off. The pre-Covid cost to acquire would have been substantially higher. Revenue has been off since Covid.

Darden has been on a tear in recent months/years.

I live in Alabama and I kid you not... I was asked today by one of the locals when the topic of Texas came up

"Have you ever heard of Chuy's"

20 mins of talking about the restaurant followed.

It's been like that since Covid and I wish they would take things back to the way they were in the 90s
