When I lived in Midtown Atlanta (23 stories up) I bought one so I didn't have to lug sodas up. it had an elevator, but it was still a PITA to get sodas from the car to the elevator and then into the apartment.

I bought all the knockoff sodas for diet cola, Dr. "Pete", etc... They taste different if you are used to coke or pepsi products but the convenience is awesome. You get used to the taste. Save money and time.

I live in a house now, so that it not an issue. I've been doing dry January and I have at least a liter of soda water a night. I make a "vodka, soda, lime wedge" in a cocktail glass (but no vodka) for happy hour while the GF drinks beer/wine. It does the trick for that happy hour craving.

We now buy Kroger sodas for the $$. My house goes through a stupid amount of soda, so it saves a bit of money. I still make Soda Stream diet drinks but no one drinks it but me. GF's kids only will drink things from a can or some kind of cool mix. They like sugar too so I'm not drinking that. I can make my own.

I like it and still use it pretty much daily.

FWIW, PepsiCo bought sodastream and now makes real pepsi products for it. I think they just announced mountain dew for it too.

With a promo code and PayPal points and a PayPal balance of $13, I got eight bottles (makes 72 oz) of flavorings for an additional $6. Not a huge diet Pepsi fan but we'll see what it tastes like. Gotta be better than the other colas.

I could never get mine carbonated enough. Haven't used it in a couple of years.

I've tried the Pepsi zero and the starry zero and both are pretty legit

Cold water only, flavor later. I press for about a 2 second count, 2 second pause about 3 or 4 time cycle. Cap it immediately. Never had an issue.

I got a Drinkmate for Christmas. According to my wife's research it supposedly sets itself apart by being able to carbonate "any" drink, where others are typically limited to water.

No idea if true or not.

I love it so far though. I just add zero calorie flavor syrups - the little squeeze bottles you get at the store in different fruit flavors.

I was a caffeine free diet DP junky but it became impossible to find. recently it makes a random appearance at the store, but pretty much is almost non-existent. I don't care for other caffeine free diet sodas. I started drinking topo chico or store brand carbonated water. Store brand was certainly cheaper than topo chico but it still felt stupid and wasteful.
