Has anyone put the Thermoworks Billows on their offset smoker? What modifications did you make? How do you like it?

I'm not sure that's the best idea on an offset. Granted, I don't have an offest, but with needing to add wood often, and needing it to fully combust to make good clean smoke I'm not sure a fan would accomplish that. A wood fire needs more air, right?

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. I do run a Signals/billows set up in my offset/reverse flow pit.

My pit is a convertible offset/reverse flow that I built six or seven years ago. I rarely run it as an offset and run it reverse flow almost exclusively. The barrel is about 7'x24" with a 24"x24"x24" firebox. I run the Signals controller with two billows fans.

Even with two fans, I have to open the draft door to supplement the airflow. Two fans just aren't enough and I'm not adding a third. With that said, once it's set up correctly, the setup does a pretty good job of maintaining a constant temperature. My pit is really easy to run consistently without the fans, but it does cut down on tinkering with it to keep the temps in range. They also do a much better job on the 250-275 range than 325.

I modified my draft door to accept pit thread adapters and plug them off if I don't want to run the fans.
