Anyone have a go to store bought BBQ sauce they'd recommend? Something for brisket. There's so many options at HEB right now…

Learn to cook your brisket better, then you won't need to waste money on sauce

Thanks for the hot tip.

Thinking more chopped brisket for sandwiches than sliced.

Head Country is my go to store bought sauce.

I bet you don't put gravy on your CFS either right? If you cook it right chicken fried steak doesn't need gravy.

If the man likes BBQ sauce on his brisket more power to him.

another vote for Head Country at grocery store

But an even better one (and harder to find), I love Blues Hog. Can find this at Ace Hardware or Buc-ee's

I've always liked Montgomery Inn (then i doctor it up from there). But my only requirement is no liquid smoke in it. I don't get that at all. The meat is smoked, why put something on it that has fake smoke flavor?

Franklin's Original or Texas Style
HEB Texas
Meyer's Elgin Original
Salt Lick Original Recipe
Terry Black's Barbecue Central Texas Original

The Jank at H-E-B - their spicy is legit, the original is really good too - just right amount of sweet and savory

Thanks everyone. We grabbed the HEB original and some of the Terry Blacks, both were great but Terry Black was the best… I think the consistency was what put it over the top (HEB was a little too thick).

Head Country has to be my best all-around go to sauce, but Craigs sauce is the one I doctor up and use in the local small time Rib cookoffs.

If I use sauce my go-to is Bentley's Batch 5, Reserve or Hot.

You can get it at HEB/Central Market.

I recently did a taste test with a few different franklins , salt lick, and mark's. All good, but Marks Hickory and their Sweet and Spicy sauces were pretty dang tasty and stood out with a little more uniqueness in the flavor.

I've become a fan of the HEB Texas sauce for beef. Great peppery flavor and a little vinegar tang.

I was raised on Head Country and still love it for chicken, turkey and pork but the HEB Texas is better for beef.

Two parts Stubbs mixed with one part of sweet baby rays. Add cider vinegar to taste

It's my quick sauce when I don't make my own

Look at HEB for one called "War Pig". It's in the "Texas" section of the BBQ sauce area.

I also like HEB's Beef Bone Broth BBQ Sauce.

I always reserve the liquid when I cook a brisket with sous vide. I then take that delicious liquid and combine it with a good BBQ to make the richest, most delicious BBQ sauce. The above bone broth sauce is as close to mine as I've ever tasted.

There have been several suggestions for head country. If you don't like a sweet BBQ sauce then you won't like head country. Sauces like head country or sweet baby's rays I will cut with vinegar and it makes them a lot better to me. My go to is something like stubs, some of the HEB sauces, or some of the marks sauces.

You must love a vinegary sauce because I don't find Head Country sweet at all. That's why I've always purchased it over sweeter sauces.

I love a vinegary sauce, and the best to me is Coopers. (you can order it online). But what I do is get a bottle of Franklins and then poor some Coopers in a bowl with it, and mix them together. It's awesome if you like a little vinegary snap to it, and I do !!

Cooper's sauce is really a mopping sauce and they use it for bbq sauce. Recipe can be found online

I use my German Grandfather's mop sauce recipe when I smoke instead of spritzing. His mop sauce is similar to Cooper's but it has few additional ingredients plus lemons floating in the pot.

These sauces are made by the family of an Aggie. Grab them all at H-E-B.
