They are going to deny your permit if you don't have a vent under the blaze grill, unless their manual is somehow different than the griddle or power burner one. I've been going round and round with DougCo permitting. I have a 7.5 ft gap between my griddle power burner and the bottom of the pergola. They seem to be ok with the power burner but are hung up on the griddle. I'm explaining that the griddle will have a plate covering the flames but no dice, they want a stupid ass vent under my pergola. My last email to them was about installing a metal plate. If they say no to that, I'm going to tell them I'm not building the pergola.
The contractor should wrap up most of the work next week. They are about 80% done with our lower patio and will start on the upper next week, that includes the kitchen.
Did you already buy all your kitchen components? I got a pretty good deal from a guy in California,
Islands in the Sun BBQ, Inc. I saved about $900 off the BBQ guys price.
I'm doing all the permitting. DougCo is usually pretty easy to work with. I got our gas line permitted and approved, contactor wanted about $200 for permitting, it was $30 for me to do it. The structural and electrical are approved pending inspections. The kitchen is hung up on the issue above.
