I expect that the Primo, BGE, or KJ are great options for any of us amateur backyard BBQers. I've had my BGE for about 5 years and love it. But, I only bought it over the Primo because the outdoor furniture store down the road was going out of business and had a huge sale on BGEs.

I own a big green egg. If I was in the market today I'd get the primo. a pellet smoker for less money.
I got the BGE because I didn't want to tend a fire box all night for a brisket, but was never completely satisfied with the finished product. Definitely operator error. Pellet smoker almost makes it idiot proof.

A kamado is far more versatile than a pellet grill, and a better smoker if you're going on taste alone.

yeah, you can't sear worth a crap on most pellets. They're fine for smoking

I don't disagree with you re: versatility (or about Diggity's point about searing a steak). If you want to cook a steak or a pizza, the ceramic cookers are a much better option.

But I would disagree about flavor. I've achieved surprisingly good results getting smokey flavor on everything I've cooked on the pellet, especially if I can set the temp for the super smoke option.

Sincerely not trying to troll or start a debate given that the OP asked about BGE vs Primo. Just wanted to give my $0.02 while also acknowledging my shortcomings on the BGE were completely on me.

There's no doubt the pellets are great for convenience, and I've liked everything that my buddies have cooked on them.

any of yall have experience with SNS grills? The Slow n Sear is a famous product for the Webber kettle. This kamodo looks like a solid product as well.

I don't have any experience with the SNS kamado, but I have the original Slow n Sear for my Weber kettle. I've had it for a couple months and it works as advertised.
