bought the BVB seasons pumpkin beer over the weekend. really like it

I picked up some Tupps DDH and Yellow Rose this weekend. Both are excellent beers, and I am now a big fan of them.

Some have mentioned liking the Yellow Rose when it is fresh. By "fresh," what does this mean relative to the date stamp on the bottle?

Within 30 days of production is a good rule of thumb. Obviously the closer it is to the date of production, the better. I once found Yellow Rose that was within 2 weeks, and I felt pretty good about that.

This is just what I do, but if any IPA is out of the 30 days of production window, I pass.

If the can doesn't have a production date, I pass, unless it's a well-established brand with a good track record, such as Lagunitas.

Does that apply to age-able IPAs (120min) too?

Not something that I considered in my post. Whoops.

I agree on always available IPA. There is better from PHP and others. Lazar Salad is always pretty awesome from ABW. Mercenary from Odell may give Jelly Fish a run. Jersey Boys 1 and 2 from Red Horn are probably my favorites.


But Electric Jelly Fish is the Beer all other IPA's are measured against in this area.

Picked up a case of the Jellyfish on my way to Lakeway this weekend. Pretty damn good. Reminded me of the West Coast IPA's from Fieldwork.

Went to some Dave & Busters clone to watch the Astros and there it was on tap. The high ABV helped to drown my sorrows. Proceeded to bowl one of the worst games of my life but totally worth it.

Well I find wear cost IPA a huge disappointment and I enjoys EJF. Start drinking better IPAs. (American or NE.)

If we are talkin standard IPAs here:

1) Mini Boss
2) Yellow Rose

If we go hazy... that's a diff story.

Yeah, not trying to confuse here. San Francisco/Berkley areas have some really good NE style IPA's.

I've never actually had a NE IPA from NE, so no point of reference there.

Mini Boss, Citra Slice, Yellow Rose, Fresh Kicks and Electric Jellyfish, in no particular order.

I dislike most IPAs but will drink a Jellyfish
