I went out with a friend tonight, ended up going to both Cane Rosso and then Pie Tap Pizza.

While I've had Cane Rosso at the Carrollton location before and enjoyed it, this was just solid to good. We only split one 14 inch pizza, and then ending up leaving for Pie Tap off of Oak Lawn. I had read a little bit about their restaurant before, and wanted to try it because of their sourdough starter.

We had the margherita, and it was terrific. As I told my friend, you know it is good if you can eat the crust by itself, and it has a terrific flavor.

I've always held off on attempting sourdough pizza, but this may force me to take the plunge.

Not normally, no. There was some family drama that caused us to leave.

Started my starter today, wish me luck.

My wife and I's favorite pizza in the DFW area....followed by Fireside Pies and Grimaldi's.

If you didn't try a side of the house ricotta ranch to dip your crust in....I would strongly suggest giving it a try next time you go.

Well, first attempt at a starter was not a success.

It looked great after the first 24 hours, think my problem was I may have removed too much before doing the second feeding.

An early dinner date turned into me missing the third feeding and feeding it 12 hours hours later, not sure if that was the biggest issue. Didn't see a ton of activity after that.

I'll begin my next attempt after next weekend. Going out of town, so can't do it this coming week.

I'm not certain I want a pizza crust I have to "feed".

I've made pizza with biga before, and you have to feed it to keep it going. Same concept with sourdough.
