I'm a bourbon educator full-time and use old bottles in classes as comparatives to modern era releases.
Insta: "bourbonwhisperer"

The value on old decanters can be dicey based on storage, whether they were ever opened, and product content (straight bourbon>blended whiskey> light whiskey). Case in point, the Four Roses decanter is beautiful but from their blended whiskey era, post 1940's heyday and before their current Kirin era resurrection. Stores in certain states can purchase unopened vintage bottles, but partials are a no-no. Every time opening a vintage bottle is a crap shoot: light and oxidation can ruin them even in a sealed bottle. Some are just really flat. If you saw any straight bourbons in there, I'd be interested in pics. Cheers.

Haha! I was asking for another buddy, mine is already open

This is why I was curious what the going rate is, online is tough to judge with a brand new bourbon. Blue Book has 2-3k, was curious if you guys have been seeing them actually go for that

I assume he's meeting in person? I had a chance to sell mine a couple years ago to a guy from California but he wanted me to ship it from Houston to Oxford, MS.
