Not even trying to be rude or condescending but they are worst of the peppers. If you're looking for low/no heat but great flavor there are much better options that don't take over the dish. That said, to each his/her own.

Sauerkraut
this is one of the things where most of the kraut you can by in stores is abject garbage and not remotely like what you will eat in Germany, etc.

Well, you shouldn't eat it straight out of the jar.

Drain the kraut and rinse with water. Fry some bacon, saute some chopped onions in it, crumble the bacon and add it back in with the kraut, add caraway seed and simmer for an hour. That's sauerkraut.

I am not Cajun but i know several who would be offended. The Cajun holy trinity (celery, onion and green pepper) starts several of my favorite dishes.

Also, love a stuffed bell pepper. Will also put then into a spaghetti sauce along with some of the hotter peppers.

Man I like green peppers on a pizza too. I guess I'm not very refined.

Exactly. I use bell peppers in gumbo. Not overpowering at all.

Put me in the green bell pepper group.

I think it's how it's used. Large cuts on pizza or fajitas I can't stand. It's lost in gumbo but I cut it up fine. One BP boiled away is different than whole BP on skillet of fajitas.

I like the smell of them too-both raw and cooked. Never understood it.

Very strange. I've never felt they over power a dish.

Green peppers are pretty much the Mary Ann of many dishes. You'd really miss them if they were absent and they don't go out of their way to be noticed, but you don't give them enough attention when they are around. And, I'm shocked they offend any one.

That's because they don't. That's why they can be used in so many things - they provide good bulk, but don't provide much in the way of flavor or heat.

I know several people who can't stand peanut butter.

Freaking weirdos if you ask me.
Take it one further. I have seen raging debates break out over creamy vs chunky.

Here is one for yall.

I have come across a surprising number of people who hate eggs. Shocked me too!

My daughter HATES peanut butter. To the point when she was a baby/toddler if somebody handed her a piece of chocolate she would smell it first and if it had peanut butter in it she would just hand it back. To this day if myself or her brothers are eating peanut butter (which I love) she will move away from it.

WTF is wrong with you?

Bell peppers of all types are wonderful, especially green.

Eat them raw, saute them, pickle them, they're all great.

Nothing's wrong with me bro. I love bell peppers, especially roasted red peppers. I eat them several times a week. I was just pointing out that there are a bunch of weirdos who don't like them for the purposes of this thread.

When I have guest over, I'll often reach out ahead of time and see if there are any foods they don't care for. Bell Peppers is a frequent answer.

Beets.

Can't stand them in any form of preparation. Some people love 'em...guess somebody needs to.

The delta between fried okra and boiled okra is tremendous...fried okra is delicious. Boiled okra is what I would imagine a bowl full of snot tastes like. But, I'm biased against slimy, gloppy food.

Not a green bell pepper fan. Won't totally trash a dish if they are in there, but will pick through them. It's mental. I have no problems with yellow and red bells.

The beets brought me out of hiding on this thread. My mom hated them and passed it down to all of her children. There is nothing redeeming about beets.

Thanks mom.

Nonsense! Boiled okra is one the greatest things ever invented.

After these last couple of weeks, I don't believe it. Eggs are out of stock everywhere.

I'm not a fan of eggs by themselves. I hated them as a kid, which was an issue because we ate them scrambled every Sunday for breakfast. The smell, texture, and taste did not agree with me, and I wasn't allowed to leave the table until I cleaned my plate.

At A&M, they had a grill in the cafeteria in the Commons, and sliced vegetables and eggs to make omelets. I figured tastes change, so why not make one, right? Absolutely murdered it with peppers, onions, and cheese, because those are foods I like. It didn't matter, I could still taste the eggs.

I don't mind them in cakes, bread, or pasta, but can't stand them by themselves. The smell of hardboiled eggs is absolutely horrific.

It's a shame, because they're plentiful and a good source of protein.

Cilantro apparently smells like bed bug infested clothing. That's where the word Coriander comes from in Greek.

I still freaking love Cilantro

I've also heard that it (cilantro) tastes like body odor smells and that it tastes like soapy dish water, but I don't mind it in my salsa.

You're talking to someone with the genetic predisposition against it...

Ate the stuff when I was a kid. Not sure I could eat it now. Maybe need to try again. Pretty sure it will still be on the shelf even in this crisis.

I've never thought cilantro smelled like body odor. Cumin, one the other hand...
