Thoughts on the rebranding effort?
I liked it better without the "Austin Eatery" attached to the name. Not many restaurants attach a city to the name...not sure why, but it annoys me much like Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

We probably do take out sandwiches there once every 2 weeks out of laziness...its a convenient location on my commute and a little healthier than fast food. I am sure it's more popular for lunch, but it's always dead so I think a shake-up is needed.

Be nice if they had more non-sandwich offerings, not seeing anything with much detail on the menu changes.

Might as well finish the rebranding that has been going on for a while now. My small hometown finally got one recently, which was great news for me when I visit.

Their menu has expanded over the years, but I stick to the original or pizza for the most part.

I didn't even though it was happening. Don't live in an area where they exist. Ate at one recently on a roadtrip, though. Seems the same.

The beef bacon thing was ridiculously good though.

I did a class project on how horribly run they are back in college. At that point (2004/2005) they had filled for bankruptcy 3 times and voided all franchise contracts twice to save themselves before the third.

Freebirds- Monster on wheat, cilantro rice, steak, refried beans, mixed cheese, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, tortilla crisps, tomatillo hot sauce.

Schlotzky's- Turkey Bacon Club

Probably lean towards Freebirds.

Freebirds. Schlotzsky's is 5 miles from my house while Freebirds is a few hundred.

Agreed. The Original or Albuquerque Turkey are both awesome. I need to try their other sandwiches but if it's not broken.i wish their pizza was the same as it was years ago.

I guess I should have clarified. I meant with us olds, if you could travel back in time, would you rather have an 80's Schlotzky's or an early 90's Freebirds. Freebirds may not be what they used to be, but, the current Bird is close enough. For us that can remember though, the original Schlotzky's in the 70s/80s was as good as it got. Today's isn't too bad, but, just doesn't come close to what it used to be

I'd probably be disappointed, but if I could travel back to the 80s for one fast food lunch, it's a beef chimichanga dinner from Del Taco. I can't count the number of times I've thought of those over the last 30 years.

Reading through that menu, it's easy to see why they're failing. If they were smart, they'd focus on sourdough pizzas.

Schlotzky's needs to bring back the Philly. Not the Philly Dilly they did awhile back but the one that was a standard menu item 20 years ago.

Or that roast beef with horseradish they used to do.
