If you want old school steakhouse, one answer Bobs on Lemmon.

Uchi, Fearings or City Hall Bistro other great choices

I wouldn't go with a steakhouse (even though they are all excellent), mainly because they aren't really unique.

I would go with either the view at 560. https://www.yelp.com/biz/five-sixty-dallas
Or Stephan Pyles (James Beard award winner). https://www.yelp.com/biz/stephan-pyles-flora-street-cafe-dallas-2
Or Upscale French. https://www.yelp.com/biz/bullion-dallas
Purepecha Room is also a great recommendation if you want to go to Deep Ellum. Probably the best meal I've had yet in DFW. https://www.opentable.com/r/revolver-taco-lounge-dallas

Not really looking for steak, but appreciate all the recommendations. Gotta love the Aggie network.

Depend on if you are "downtown" as in the Central Business District and don't want to cab it or drive or in the uptown area adjacent to the business district.

If in CBD and no steakhouse . . . .

The French Room at the Adolphus is the granddaddy of them all but formal and $$$$$

560 is the revolving restaurant at Reunion Tower and is fun. There is a dress code and you need reservations.

Dakota's is technically a steakhouse but has a pretty varied menu and is fun as the restaurant is below street level in this strange open air setup.

Tei-An is near the Opera and is very "talked about" if you like high end Japanese -

If you want to Uber, shooting over to Bishop Arts us fun - Lucia is the toughest table to get . . . .Bolsa is fun if you like farm to table.

Uptown - No steak

Trulucks for crab/lobster

Avanti for romantic Italian

Ocean Prime for high end seafood

I second (or third) Fearing's. Mostly non-steak. If you decide you want a steak, they have it.

Also think about Flora Street (Stephen Pyles)

Something different if you dont want anything super upscale is Savor in Klyde Warren park. Great food and service, small menu but all very good. And the restaurant is floor to ceiling glass walls in the heart of the park, so it has kind of a nifty atmosphere.
