Just gauging interest here - would anyone be interested in an online cooking group? Anyone would be able to join, so you wouldn't have to know me or be good friends with me or anything like that, but I would "moderate" the group. There would be a cookbook or cooking/baking blog or magazine set for each month, and members would post pictures or experiences of their recipes in that book. You would participate as much or as little as you wanted. The books/blogs would be voted on and we would try to set them out at least a few months so you could anticipate what was coming up if you wanted to order the cookbook, or check it out from the library or whatever. If people are interested, I'll set it up. Nominate a book or blog too. We could also pick a larger book to cook through throughout the year in addition to the monthly books.

If this is intended to be a teaching type class, my little girl and I would be interested. We obsessively watch My Kitchen Rules and Great British Bake Off. We are new bakers who primarily make cookies and breads but would love to expand our range. However, if you were intending this to be you and peers showing off your skills, we will respectfully sit out and watch what you post because we couldn't come close to doing what you do, but we do enjoy watching and learning skilled bakers.

It's just meant to be a group for people to sort of work through cookbooks together and ask questions and learn from each other. You guys are the most foodsy out of all my "peers." That's actually why I'm considering starting the book. None of our local friends really cook at all.

And for what it's worth, I'm more than willing to chat/teach or whatever with anyone about how to bake the things I bake, but people rarely ask.

It sounds like the kind of group where I would love to lurk, but would worry about pulling my weight as a member.

Agree with Bio. I don't get to cook so much, but like to have fun with it when I do. In a couple months we have a dessert auction off that I want to win, so this could be good thing to be apart of.

I am game, but most of my baking is focused on gluten free so we do a lot of almond flour/rice flour based foods.

My daughter and I are in and excited to try this. I'll check back here for the details. Any idea what cookbook you'll want to use?

I'm going to list a few to get feedback on soon, and set the books for 4-5 months out. The first book, I think will go through April. I will also be looking for a book to cook through throughout the rest of the year, so there will be monthly books and sort of a master book. If you have any books to nominate, please do. I'll change the picture each month to the book we are on.

Here is a link to the club. Please invite/add anyone you think would want to participate. The group sort of relies on participation, so the more people, the better. There is a pinned comment of the rundown of things.

I can help on the "What not to do" chapter.

I love the cookbook idea. When I was active duty a couple of duty stations had cookbooks as fundraisers. The recipe collections were great because they were family recipes from all over the place.

A TexAgs cookbook (hardcopy or electronic) would be cool. A hardcopy would be a cool gift.

The Outdoor board has a texags cookbook already. I think it's in pdf format somewhere.

That is awesome!!!

Its from 2010, that is why I did not know about it.

rhowsen, I see you are a major contributor to the cookbook. I will be making two of your recipes by the end of he week.

- The baked french toast casserole & praline topping (page 10/11). My daughter really loves french toast. More than anyone I know. She is always trying out different types. We will add this one to the rotation.

- Strawberry Salsa (page 2). My wife and guests like sweet salsa's and usually have mango. This is different and sounds good. Plus strawberries are rolling into their prime season.

You have a bunch more that all sound great. This is what I can incorporate into our meal plans this week.

OK, I created a fake facebook account ( I left Facebook many years ago) so there is a application for membership to your group from JonIncOgnito. That's my daughter and I. Looking forward to baking and critiques. Any "stuff" we just absolutely must have to start this?

Nope. Just read the rules. I'm going to approve and add some more things to the page right after we finish dinner.
