Anyone know a recipe for this queso?? My friend said it's the best queso ever in the history of the world, but she doesn't have a recipe so I said I'd ask texags to see if anyone had one. Appreciate the help!

The nerds on here will probably say it has to do with sodium citrate

I waited tables there while in law school in San Antonio. I never really thought it was that good. I would place Torchy's queso way out in front, and a simple google search for that recipe will get it for you.

Edit to say that I do not remember how they made their queso

Gotcha - never had it myself, just said that I would put it up on texags and see what the hivemind knew. I assumed she did a google search first, but maybe not.

I meant the google search for Torchy's queso. I have found it, and it turns out pretty close to the original. Good stuff. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I just know that the queso at Alamo was nothing to write home about. (in my opinion of course)

Which has sodium citrate, or some variation thereof, in it.

My guess is the food distributor's "house brand" version of Extra Melt this plus their red salsa. Not even in the conversation for best queso in the world, however, if you can get your hands on some Extra Melt and Alamo Cafe salsa, you'd pretty much have it.
