This could go in the "shower thoughts" category. What is a super common food item that you would guess you could find in 90% of American homes but that you don't generally purchase or have in your home?

Mine is coffee. We don't drink it and never have so it never occurs to us to buy it when we have guests. Although, we don't have a coffee maker, either... W generally have to go run and get them some from Starbucks or whatever.

Milk, any preprocessed frozen foods. My freezer is full of Hops for brewing. And big ice cubes for bourbon.

We also don't own a microwave.

Bottled ranch dressing. HATE it. Homemade or gtfo. But the tradeoff is we have two open bottles of blue cheese dressing and one in the pantry. Husband loves it but always forgets we have it and keeps buying more. It also better homemade, but whatever.

So what do you put on burgers and hot dogs?

I guess everyone has some ramen?

I guess mine would be cream of mushroom soup. Or any canned cream soups. If I have a recipe that needs it, I make my own.
