Our church had a thanksgiving type meal tonight and served pumpkin and pecan and it got me thinking: I love pie. I think it's my favorite dessert.

So in honor of the holiday season coming up, what are your favorite pies? What are the traditional pies that your family serves (if they serve them)? Are there any that you don't like?

I love pumpkin during these holidays but I don't think I could eat it year round....and it has to have whipped cream or cool whip on top. I can eat pecan just about any time of the year.....Apple is the same way and is my favorite of the fruit pies followed closely by strawberry. I like coconut cream pie as well.

For some reason I'm not a big fan of chocolate pie. And I'm not sure why, but I don't like any pie that has merengue on top.....just not my thing.

I've never had dewberry. Are they kind of like blackberrys?

I love lemon meringue pie and could eat it all the time.

Forget the cool whip on your pumpkin pie - do home made whipped cream.

I also make a frozen strawberry margarita pie with graham cracker crust that is always a hit.

Other than that, I do the standard apple and pumpkin.

I have this pie cookbook, and it's pretty solid Pie cookbook

My Great Grandmother used to make apricot fried pies. I really like those and pretty much any kind of lemon pie. Pumpkin pie is okay with whipped cream, but outside of the ones listed, I really can't stand fruit pies. I like the syrupy part of the compote, but hate chunks of fruit in my desert. I feel the same way about cobbler.

Coconut Cream and Buttermilk Pies are my absolute favorite.

A well done Apple pie like a place like Emporium is one of my favorites around the holidays

I could eat there every day. You better believe if I eat at lock heart, eno's or odd fellows, I'm immediately walking over to emporium afterward if I can fit it in my stomach or not.

I make a mean buttermilk pie. Sometimes I ad fresh blueberries or pecans. Definitely my favorite.

Buttermilk is my favorite. We have sweet potato pie rather than pumpkin at Thanksgiving.

Marie Calander's Razzleberry was one we had as kids semi frequently, so we'll have fresh Razzleberry sometimes. The other I like to make is a pumpkin pecan pie (in homage to Papadeaux sweet potato pecan). It takes the best elements of pumpkin and pecan while eliminating the slight drawbacks to each. Topped with a spiked homemade whipped cream and it doesn't get much better.

I'd never hward of a buttermilk pie until 4 or 5 years ago.

But damn! They good. Now my second favorite next to pecan.

A key lime pie made with limes from my tree is my favorite,

All over the country but no time in the deep south. Primary locations ca, mo, ks, fl, west tx,

Until going to atm, my time in Texas was limited to the far west.

My parents first buttermilk pie was one I made for thanksgiving

That makes sense. I've always heard that it's more of a southern thing.

Of all the fruit pies, Apple rules during the holidays, but I like strawberry more often than Apple throughout the year.

I like lemon ice box more than key lime but they're both good.

Give me pumpkin over sweet potato every time....but I'm not sure why.

Buttermilk is good too, and coconut cream rocks.

Coconut Cream or Buttermilk pie. My grandmother and mom use to make them all the time, and I would eat about a 1/2 in one sitting as a kid.

When I was a kid, Aggie freshman, I ate a dozen hot Shipleys every night with a quart of whole milk - cream on top - and was a stick - - - until I quit running 5 to 10 miles everyday. Then realized the need to calibrate consumption.

Pecan pie has been my favorite dessert since I was a little boy

Cherry, apple, and buttermilk are all tasty as well

Never did like pumpkin: the flavor is ok but the texture weirds me out, too mushy
