Rodeo Goat is awesome.

If you want to go downtown and do Italian try Taverna Rissotoria. We went to Italy on our honeymoon in 2007 and that place is as close as we've found to authentic Italian.

Aventino's on Camp Bowie is my favorite Italian. Billy's Oak Acres for BBQ. Try Esperanza's for Mexican - I like the location on Park Place near the medical district. Lili's Bistro in the same area is also a favorite. AF&B on 7th is a great restaurant as well. Pacific Table is sneaky good for seafood + sushi & cheaper than Waters (which gets most of the seafood headlines) to boot. The Goat makes a great burger as does Fred's TCU location (original location is great too) and Dutch's right by campus. Old Neighborhood Grill is about 70 feet from Esperanza's and is a great breakfast or lunch destination. Swiss Pastry Shop on Vickery is awesome for breakfast or lunch, take a pie or some Black Forest cake to go.

Ate at the Old South Pancake House a few years back and it wasn't too bad for a breakfast place. There is a place that has HUGE Cinamon Rolls...Ginger Browns...I've only had them to go. I just remember them being a true gut buster...

Railhead is good for groups and won't kill the bank.

Only their ribs are good though, so be prepared. Sausage is decent, but the brisket sucks. They serve a huge platter of fries that you can get onions and jalapenos in, and they are excellent. Best sauce I've ever had if you like that kind of think and the beer freezes in the mug because it's so cold.

No recs for Tim Love's Lonesome Dove Bistro? I've only been once and it was a couple of years ago. It was good then.

He might not want to shell out that much $$$ for lonesome dove. Btw, I think woodshed is overrated!

Tip: if you want a nice dinner in FW w/out paying an added premium for Tim Love's ego and pretentiousness, go to Bonnell's.

Awesome Appetizers: Grace (kinda pricey, best Sazerac I've ever had)

Outstanding place. But would you go there after a kids soccer game?

$200 for 4 (at least). One scallop = $9.

Interesting. I've been going to Railhead (only for ribs and onion fries) since they were on Vickory and I've never tried their turkey. Might try it out next time.

Railhead is good for their chicken plate and sliced sandwich. If you're wanting good brisket Woody Creek is the best I've had in FW proper.

Another thumbs up for Bonnell's. Add Nonna Tata to the Italian list.

Love Rodeo Goat, but the quality of their head-to-head battle burgers seem to drop off substantially if they're super busy. I've had this happen on two separate occasions, both times during a packed service.

The last time I visited I had the Baby Got Mac, which is supposed to have Dr. Pepper brined short rib, a beef patty, fried hatch mac-n-cheese, and red wine ketchup. The short rib tasted like roast beef and overwhelmed the burger and the mac-n-cheese was nearly non-existent, it was just too thin of a fried patty to add much flavor and I couldn't even tell it had hatch chiles in it. The same goes for the red wine ketchup, I wouldn't know if it had red wine in it. The burger just didn't deliver. I had a similar experience with the Whiskey Burger during a busy service.

That being said, if you plan on dining at Rodeo Goat, it's best to either go there for lunch or plan on arriving early for dinner. Also, try either the Fainting Goat or the Moon Tang, both are great drink choices.

If you're going to be on the north side of Fort Worth, you should try Lee's Grilled Cheese. They have the best Mac n'Cheese I've ever had; they grill it on a flat top and top it with crumbled bacon. I haven't actually been to their restaurant, but I tried them out at one of the musical festivals this past year at Panther Island pavilion. I saw them again two weeks ago at Rahr, but they were sold out within an hour and a half of setting up shop. It took us that long just to get through the entry line and get a beer, so by the time I noticed them, it was already too late.

Also, if you're looking for good hole in the wall Tex-Mex, you can't go wrong with Salsa Fuego on the west side of Fort Worth. The food's phenomenal, service has always been prompt, and it's dirt cheap. The only problem is seating is limited.
