I'm new to the area and was wondering if anybody could recommend any local hole in the wall type bars with mostly an older crowd? Nothing against you younger people, you guys and gals are just a bit crazy for me some of the time.

When I say older, I'm talking 30's thru 50's.

Like in the whole world? Or a particular city you don't wish to name?

I'm sorry, I took this to be a College Station forum, forgot it covered a larger area.

From what I've heard, Ptarmigan. Which is why I stayed away when I was in school.

Almost any bar in Bryan would qualify.

You missed out, it is/was a great bar. 50 cent wells and $1 doubles on Thursday nights.

Pretty much any bar in BCS will be fine from 5pm until 9/10pm when the kids come crawling out.

I really like Carney's, Obannon's, and The Republic (for a nicer cocktail hour or such). I've heard good things about Prospector's but haven't been there yet.

wasnt too impressed with their food. CFS was a frozen out of the box item and the creamy mac and cheese was creamy for about 3 bites.

beer was cold though.

Now those were the prices 10 years ago, so there may be some change.

Don't go too often, but always find an "older" crowd at Carney's.

Downtown Bryan is a pretty good spot. I was a Sunday night regular at Revolution until I moved out of the area, but the crowd tended to be older every night but Sunday. Proudest Monkey has pretty good food as does the Village. Murphy's Law has a more college crowd, but if you like Celtic music, it's big enough to find a spot away from them.

Did a quick Google search and the last post on their Facebook page said they were closed as of 2012.

I want to say I remember them closing then re-opening not too long after. May have been a change in ownership or needed renovations???

yea, in that strip center. they had the little side lounge with the shuffleboard table. was our go-to spot to get away from the "kids" when in grad school.

Awesome!

Also, P-tars was awesome from 2000-2005. Flaming Dr. Peppers were legit.

Another vote for P-tars! we would crash the place every Thursday for the $.50 drinks before heading out to NG.

Fox & Hound has an older clientele as well, at least fewer undergrads

If Jeff still owns Yesterdays, which is entirely possible, it's likely still a cool place to go. I spent WAAAAAAAAY too much time there as an undergrad in the late 90's

If you are interested in dancing, Rockies in Bryan is more of the 25 - 50 crowd and it's never packed.
