Any good eggnog recipes?

Anybody have a good eggnog recipe? If i'm going to Christmas Vacation it up, I want to really have the full Chevy Chase experience.

are you asking for a recipe to make egg nog from scratch? or are you asking how much bourbon to add?

I worked at Jasons Deli through high school and the holidays were always something to look forward to. Management knew working that time of year tended to suck, specially christmas or new years eve- so they sent each shop provisions for the owner's private recipe. I think it was called Rusty's wild eggnog. If I remember correctly, you start with a 5 gallon bucket and then:
Two gallons nog
1 handle wild turkey
1 bottle kaluha
1/2 gallon vanilla icecream
1/4 cup nutmeg
Mix with an 18volt dewalt drill.

Serve with a turkey topper.

This is my sister's recipe. Actually, now that I just pulled it out of her cookbook, I realized apparently its my dad's recipe. My mom doesn't drink so we never spike the whole bowl, just allow people to put cognac or Bailey's or whatever in their individual cups.

DAD’S EGG NOG
6 eggs, separated ¾ cup sugar, divided
1 pint whipping cream
1 pint half ‘n half
1 capful vaniilla
nutmeg (if desired)
bourbon or Kahlua can be added to individual cups, if desired

Beat egg whites til stiff and add ¼ cup sugar. In separate bowl, beat yolks with ¼ cup sugar til light yellow. In another bowl, whip whipping cream with ¼ cup sugar. Combine all ingredients. Serves about 6-8.

BQ75, this is where you use Evan Williams. Don't ever waste the good stuff on ANY mixed drink.

And I was gonna post this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xc6_WUfCW1Q before I saw AC's post. I almost always start with a youtube/google search for "Alton Brown _______" when looking to try cooking something I haven't done before.

Beat 12 egg yolks and 1c sugar.
Slowly add 1c each bourbon and cognac.
I add cinnamon, nutmeg, and maple syrup.
Chill this mixture for several hours.

1/2 tsp salt with the whites, til stiff peaks.
Whip 1 pint heavy cream til stiff.

Fold whipped cream into the yolk mixture, then add 2pints half/half.

Fold in as much of the whites as you like.

Chill at least an hour. Alwasys stir before pouring.

This is badass.

Made my family's recipe last night to serve at our Bible study party tonight. It's always gotten good reviews.

6 eggs
2 cups of sugar
Pint of milk
Pint of whipping cream
Pint of bourbon
Splash of rum
Splash of kahlua
Lots if fresh nutmeg

Beat the eggs and sugar together until a good consistency. Add in milk, cream, bourbon, rum, kahlua, and nutmeg. Mix well and let sit for 24 hours.

George Washington's Eggnog Recipe

(For the pansy lightweights that don't respect our nations first president, the more civil version is in parentheses.)

1 pint brandy (8oz or 1 cup)
1/2 pint rye whiskey (2oz or 1/4 cup)
1/2 pint Jamaica rum (2oz or 1/4 cup)
1/4 pint sherry (1oz or 1/8 cup)
8-10 eggs
12 Tbsp sugar
1 qt milk
1 qt heavy cream

Mix liquors first, then separate yolks and whites of eggs. Beat yolks and add sugar, mixing well. Add liquor to mixture slowly, continuing to beat. Add milk and cream, slowly beating. Beat whites of eggs until stiff and fold slowly into mixture. Chill thoroughly.

the only time i made egg nog from scratch, i spent the night sh\tting my pants. maybe I'll give it another shot at some point and actually follow these instructions

Made the Alton Brown recipe last night and it was very thin, not thick & creamy like I was expecting. SO liked it, but I didn't.
