Norma's Crunchy French Toast from Le Meridien hotel in NYC. It's rice krispies on brioche French toast. D-f'ing-licious!!! I'll see if I can find the recipe at home and send it over.

thick sliced sourdough bread, batter, real butter and real maple syrup

eggs, cinnamon, splash of CoffeeMate Hazelnut creamer(used this once because I was out of cream and my family loved the results...they still do not know how I make the "french toast we love")

butter into pan until melted, dip bread into batter and then fry in butter until golden and remove to plate, dollop of butter and sprinkle of sugar if you are not using syrup...serve

Sliced challah or hawaiian bread
5 eggs
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinammon
2 tablespoons brownsugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons of ground mexican chocolate
1.5 oz of Grand Marnier

My boyfriend puts Oregan Chai Tea mix in with batter. Tastes pretty awesome to me.

Talon has it right! Though i would use Vanilla bean paste instead of extract.

And Callah is the only way to go!

Can add orange zest and orange juice if you dont have the liquor.

Saw this thread yesterday and had to make French toast for lunch.

Of course I just put a little milk and allspice in the eggs and use regular wheat bread and fry in butter. But with real maple syrup, it was pretty dang good!

I also put sugar directly in with the eggs and make sure to beat it up pretty good. I don't put all that other stuff though, except vanilla and sometimes a sprinkle of nutmeg.

obligatory Alton Brown's French toast recipe.

it's what I use.

Ingredients

1 cup half-and-half
3 large eggs
2 tablespoons honey, warmed in microwave for 20 seconds
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 (1/2-inch) slices day-old or stale country loaf, brioche or challah bread
4 tablespoons butter

Directions

In medium size mixing bowl, whisk together the half-and-half, eggs, honey, and salt. You may do this the night before. When ready to cook, pour custard mixture into a pie pan and set aside.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Dip bread into mixture, allow to soak for 30 seconds on each side, and then remove to a cooling rack that is sitting in a sheet pan, and allow to sit for 1 to 2 minutes.

Over medium-low heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a 10-inch nonstick saute pan. Place 2 slices of bread at a time into the pan and cook until golden brown, approximately 2 to 3 minutes per side. Remove from pan and place on rack in oven for 5 minutes. Repeat with all 8 slices. Serve immediately with maple syrup, whipped cream or fruit.

Yep, Talon got it right, although I'd use 5oz cream and 5 oz milk for 5 eggs. Never tried adding chocolate either. Sounds bueno. Always used fresh oj and zest like BW too in addition to a splash of Grand Marnier. Sometimes I skip the orange/GM altogether and add a dash of almond extract
