Anyone have a good recipe (seasonings)for brisket tacos -- in the oven or crock pot? Had them at bunco the other night and thinking I want to make them this weekend.

I remember seeing a recipe that DriveOn/FIDO posted a while back, but don't remember the board (either gen or outdoor). Maybe he'll chime in with it soon.

Brisket tacos are pretty much the only thing I make in a crock pot

I take a brisket and cut it into 2.5" chunks salt them heavily and then sear the ever living crap out of them.

Then I dump them in a crock pot with a sliced onion, about 10 cloves garlic, a sliced jalapeño, about 10 dried red chiles (stems removed), and about a tablespoon of crushed, dried oregano, and fresh cracked pepper. Then cover everything with chicken broth and cook it for 8 hours or so.

Once everything is fork tender, remove the brisket and put everything left in the pot into a blender and purée. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Shred the brisket and toss with just enough sauce to keep it moist.

I serve mine on homemade corn tortillas with diced onion, cilantro, and fresh limes.

I'd say Driveons but put them on the smoker for an hour or two before searing them.

Driveon...thanks that is just about what I did. Except added about a half cup of Shiner Wild Hare. They were so very easy and every one loved them.

drive on - when you say you sear them, are you talking about on the grill?

I'm guessing he means searing them in a pan.

this would be a great place for you Enameled Cast Iron!

After you sear though take that stock and deglaze those brown bits off the bottom of the pan then add that broth to the crock!

Or just add the veg saute for a bit then deglaze then add your beef back into the enameled cast iron and into a low and slow oven!

I do this. Forgot to mention in my directions.

Now I may have to try searing on the BGE. That might work well.

My favorite taco @ Torchy's is the Crossroads: smoked brisket, grilled onion, jalapeno, cilantro, jack cheese, avocado, tomatillo salsa and I prefer on flour tortilla, but if you get it on corn tortilla, it comes on two tortillas and you've got enough ingredients to make two tacos. I ate at Franklin BBQ a few weeks ago and I got some extra brisket which I vacuumed sealed and put in freezer; saving for some righteous brisket tacos one of these days.
