Going home on R&R during Christmas. I have limited time to see my extended family, so for the first time ever, I don't want us to concentrate on maknig all of the food and will willfully bypass frying a turkey.

Are there places to get a Christmas turkey in SA...and its gotta be good. Do some cuisine type stores prepare Turkey dinners for the lazy?

Could check with local BBQ joints, some will custom smoke. They normally charge by the pound.

They smoke it the day/or night before, then chill it. You would have to reheat it the day of. Some will even slice it for you for a little extra.

Thanksgiving = Turkey
Christmas = Prime Rib

Costco is the best choice for a full prime rib roast.

Get the sides from Honeybaked ham off of I-10

Thanks for the tip.

I couldn't give rat's arse what other people eat on Christmas. I'm getting a Turkey dammit.

Sorry, today I ate noodles for the 30th time in 40 days.

I gotta say, I'm surprised at Bill Millers. Haven't lived in TX for a long, long time...so I trust this is a good choice.

Fly Army if you want a good traditional Thanksgiving meal on Christmas don't even think about Bill Millers.

You need to call up Joseph's bakery on St Mary's. Ask for Patrick and he'll hook you up with a dinner that will make your grandma proud.

Bill Millers and Luby's both do a very good job with Thanksgiving turkey dinners. Of course, you have to like cornbread dressing, but other than that I do not think you can go wrong.

And thank you for your service to the country.

My Momma doesn't want to do much work on the second dinner, so she is going to do Luby's. What are the best things to order...and what should she stay away from?

Ive talked on the GB about what happened at my local Lubys more than a few years back. I will/would NEVER eat at that place. Their food handling practices have KILLED people......not tainted meat, not undercooked meat, or problems within the distribution, BUT IN THEIR STORES from OVERSIGHT of INCREDIBLY INSANE practices........

that's the same way I feel about Barnhill's. I was 12 or 13 at the time the incident happen, but I will never ever ever ever go into another one again.

We have done both Greeburg and Honeybaked for smoked turkeys. They were both very good. You just warm them up. Pretty easy.

Also tried a Turduken one year. That was not really very good. Not worth it.
