To generalize on flight hours only is a mistake. I had over 2000 hours in fighters. That would be 1500 or more sorties (flights). In transports, bombers, or the airlines that would equate to much fewer sorties. I'm not "taking a shot" at those guys but a 10-12 hour flight might be one sortie. Helicopters would be similar to fighters. 1000 hours in helicopters would be an experienced aviator
