"Texas Aggies: into the battlefield", the commemorative show at the Mardasson This unique production, directed by Luc Petit and his non-profit organisation "Les Nocturnales", will be presented on Saturday 14 December on this emblematic site.
As part of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge organised by the City of Bastogne, the tourist office will present the commemorative show: "Texas Aggies: into the battlefield", already mentioned during the call for extras. "This unique production, directed by Luc Petit and his non-profit organisation "Les Nocturnales", will be presented on Saturday 14 December at the Mardasson. Two performances will take place, at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., to offer a wide audience the opportunity to discover this grandiose show. Access is free," says Justine Rahir, director of the Pays de Bastogne Tourist Office.
This show will pay tribute to the almost anonymous actors, who marked those dark days of the Second World War. Through the journey of five young soldiers, the public will follow the major stages of this conflict that changed the course of history.
The story will transport viewers from the thirties and the rise of Nazism to the liberation of Europe, via Pearl Harbor, the Normandy landings and the Battle of the Bulge. The story continues with post-war reconstruction, the Cold War, and, finally, the reunification of Germany. We will follow the itineraries of young Americans from Texas A&M University, from their native soil to the liberation of Europe, via the winter of 44 in Bastogne.
Inspired by real events and characters, different voices will take the audience on this incredible epic, via protagonists with whom everyone can identify, at the heart of individual destinies linked by an invisible thread to this chapter of great history, from the folly of men to the reconciliation of peoples. An emblematic monument of Bastogne, the Mardasson will be the scene of this exceptional staging. Through a combination of visual projections, monumental sculptures, light effects, archival images, sound effects, dance and pyrotechnics, the viewer will be immersed in a unique and poignant experience.
Luc Petit and the Nocturnales, known for their talent for bringing to life places steeped in history, are teaming up this year with the LSE team, known for its spectacular creations, including the lighting designs for the Eiffel Tower on July 14, the Olympic Games with Celine Dion and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai for New Year's Eve. This project calls on internationally renowned professional artists such as the jugglers and fire artists "La Salamandre" or the aerial acrobats of "Motus Modules" as well as a hundred local extras. Together, they will give life to a show where past and present meet, for a moment of reflection, emotion and memory. An unforgettable adventure that will remind us of the importance of never forgetting.
