Can fish cadets intending to pursue Air Force commissions request assignment to Army outfits, and vice versa?

A buddy of mine has a son who wants to go AF, but wants to be in the same Army company as his friend.

TIA

Yes you can, may have to argue with the corps staff to make it happen though. They try to keep cadets in the same type outfit as their ROTC because they generally schedule outfit activities around the ROTC class times, which is usually 1-2 classes/events a week.

They made special exceptions in the past for legacy cadets, but it may take some haggling with whoever tells you no first.

Thank you. I will pass the info to my buddy.

I had two marine contracts in my outfit, absent any marine outfits; similar to multiple Navy embeds in other squadrons/companies.

Just join the band then it doesn't matter what ROTC it is.

I commissioned AF out of E-1. Good chance Trigon will try and dissuade you but insist on letting him join the outfit he prefers. I think the only LIMFAC during my time was that if you came in with a scholarship you had to be in a corresponding outfit.

I was USAF cadet my Fish and PH year. Switched to Army and stayed with Hellcat 9. About 1/3 of Hellcat 9 PH, Butts, and Zips were non-USAF. Not unusual in the mid-80s.
When the truth comes out, do not ask me how I knew.
Ask yourself why you did not.
