Let's assume that the political divide is too much to overcome and eventually there will be a civil war. I would imagine not all of the military personnel would fall in line with whichever party is in power. Does that side (the Resistance), take whatever military assets they can for their cause?

I wonder how long would a civil "war" last before China/Russia/etc take the opportunity to "help" one side defeat the other with the end goal of taking over completely.

I'm not a military historian nor was I ever in the military. I just thought would be an interesting "what if" scenario.

In the Civil War, Union posts in Texas, the loyalists saddled their horses and rode off.

Going to be different if tanks, heavy weapons, and aircraft are involved.

What happens if a pilot wants to take his jet out out of the resistance area, but his ground crew is resistance?

What happens to all the nuclear weapons?

To top it off, if there is a civil war, it isn't going to be Texas vx. New Mexico, for instance. It's going to be the people in the small towns vs. ABQ, Santa Fe, Dallas, Houston, etc. etc.
