RMAs are technology, doctrine, and tactics that change the face of warfare. I consider Blitzkrieg, Marine Corps amphibious landings in WWII, and P-51s as RMAs. Many of them are created during the inter-war periods as nations prepare for future wars. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they do not. An example is the Army Air Force believing bombers did not need escorts because they could defend themselves. I believe we lost 6,000 bombers in Europe. They got that wrong.

I consider the suite of precision weapons and weapons systems NATO has bestowed upon Ukraine an RMA in itself. It has given Ukraine the ability to fight with a much smaller military. Ukraine is also pushing the envelope with its drones and other weapons systems with new technology and tactics. Some of new stuff and tactics will become RMAs and it will behoove of the US Military conduct AARs and pursue lessons learned. The main belly button for this endeavor for the US Army is the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL). This is how lessons learned is institutionalized and promulgated throughout the Army. I am impressed with the creativity of the Ukrainians as they evolve technology and tactics. I would like to know what they come out with in the future. CALL

The RMA we're seeing in Ukraine is Information War: competition over who can gather, synthesize, and integrate data and incorporate that data in application of new/legacy platforms fastest. All of it affects advantage in the new modern war. It's created a new fighting domain (or a split of a fighting domain) that doesn't get enough attention…yet

The "air littoral" is reshaping our understanding of the air domain, air power, and how land forces maneuver.

Great articles (some prescient) about it:

https://warontherocks.com/2024/03/drones-the-air-littoral-and-the-looming-irrelevance-of-the-u-s-air-force/

Air power has been "democratized" - the cost of entry to "mass" in airborne ISR and attack is in the thousands, not millions, of dollars now. Game changer.
