I am going on a tangent. Irony is the 442nd Infantry Regiment comprised of Japanese-American Niseis would become the most decorated unit in US military history. It was given some of the most difficult missions. For example, the 442nd was ordered to rescue a unit from Texas and would lose more men than they rescued.

It is said the Division Commander wanted to want to see the 442nd formed up. He angrily said he wanted to see the whole unit to which the Regimental Commander replied this is all that is left. Then he refused to shake hands with the DC.

Despite the discrimination and racism, the Niseis would give Uncle Sam blank checks which were often cashed. They would be loyal to the US to the end.
