People occasionally post here asking how to obtain either their own DD214 or the records of their ex-military kin. Just came across these links which may help.

Good to know. Remember the DD214 was first used aroung 1950-ish and your WWII ancestors would have been discharged with as per Wikipedia:

AND DONT FORGET, you can order ONE COMPLETE SET of military medals earned during service. You can also get a replacement set for your immediate family member so you can build a memorial to you dad or whomever. More info here:

There are a number of organizations that will make up a shadow box too, all you're going to get from the gov is a bag of medals.
