Howdy, Ags!

We can all agree that the men and women of our nation's military never let us down. As conflicts rage in multiple locations across the world, Austin Flag and Flagpole honors our service members and veterans who have proudly worn the uniform of our nation. Veterans Day on November 11th is a celebration to honor America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

We'd like to hear of an Aggie who you will be honoring on this Veterans Day. Please share your stories and your pictures so we can join you in honoring them as well. We will be selecting one story on Thursday, November 2, to receive a flag of their choice, and it will be shipped in time to receive by Nov 11th.

We carry flags for all branches of service Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy, Space Force; also Merchant Marines, POW/MIA, Wounded Warrior and others. Of course we also carry 'Made in the USA' American flags of all sizes in nylon and polymax; we carry a wide variety of historical, collegiate, police, fire, country and state flags of all kinds. Please visit www.austinflag.com to view our selections.

Thank you in advance for 'shopping local' and of course with fellow Aggies.
Thanks and Gig 'em!

My grandfather, my mother's dad, Miles Wasson. He was right there in the trenches in France on 11/11/18.
His story goes that he and his buddies went to draw ammunition for the day and some captain told them to stand down as the war was going to be over at 11am and they weren't going to kill anyone that morning. Not everybody felt that way as the big guns fired right up to 11.

The person that is not willing to fight and die, if need be, for his country has no right to life.

My dad, Calvin Holley. He enlisted out of high school in May, 1941. Served as a medic during WW2 on a tank carrier in the Pacific. Was recalled for Korea and assigned to the Marines. After Korea, transferred to the Air Force where he spent the rest of his time and retired in 1965 as a E8.

-My grandfather: JV "Pinky" Wilson. A&M class of '20. Marine 6th Regiment. Wrote AWH while in France. I'm actually going to say a few words about him at an event @ Sanders Corps Museum Friday afternoon. Pray for me, because I hate public speaking.
-My birthfather Joe Wilson, class of '60 & '62. Air Force.
-My adopted father Wilmer Walterscheid. Attended A&M but had to drop out to support his family when his dad died in a farming accident after his freshman or soph year. He is also Air Force.
-My brother-in-law Mitchell Lane. Army Special Forces Engineer Sergeant. KIA while in Afghanistan in 2003.
