Don't know why not. Sandy Alderson, ex-president of the Mets and a few other teams, wanted to go to the USNA, wasn't accepted but went to Dartmouth on an NROTC scholarship then into the Marines. HS classmate of mine went to West Point and upon graduation was commissioned into the USAF. Aggie classmate of mine was a 4 year Army ROTC grad but wasn't picked for active duty, joined the Marines and spent 10 years. I think all Marine ROTC scholarships are funded by the Navy.

Yes. A&M's NROTC commissions cadets into both the USN and USMC. A second alternative I saw several pursue was the USMC Platoon Leader's Course (PLC), and finally traditional OCS is a post graduation option.

Thank you for a timely, courteous, on-point reply. You don't always get that on here.

Was commissioned into the USMC through the NROTC Unit at South Carolina, later worked at the NROTC Unit at Texas A&M. I believe more Marine 2nd Lts are commissioned through Texas A&M than any school except the Naval Academy.

Hasn't the A&M PNS always been a Marine 0-6?

Commissioning
Upon graduation, qualified Naval ROTC Navy and Marine Option Scholarship students receive commissions as Ensigns in the United States Navy or as Second Lieutenants in the United States Marine Corps and serve a minimum of four years of active duty.
