Had an idea I wanted to float out here. I'm connected with a fantastic oil painter from Ukraine who I've commissioned to paint both of my grandfathers. He specializes in realistic military portraits. He does truly incredible work and for quite a bit less than an American artist of the same skill level would charge.
Here are the ones he did for me
As you can imagine, his whole family has taken an economic hit from what's going on over there the last few months. Thankfully he lives in Ukraine's west and is relatively safe and can continue to buy materials and paint, but times are tough. My idea is what if some of us here pitched in to have him paint a military portrait of a notable Ag to donate to either Sanders or the MSC. Maybe one ff the MoH recipients or one of the Ags we lost in the GWoT? I'd love to be able to help my friend Misha's family while also providing something really nice for A&M. He normally only charges $400-$600 for a decent-sized portrait including shipping to the States so it wouldn't take many of us chipping in to pull it off if there is any interest. Let me know what y'all think.
